Motor does not run

The first step before trying anything else, is always to set the machine into Factory default values. This is made by holding Zero button for a few seconds and choose FACTORY in the display.

If this still does not solve the problem, a "first time startup initialization" can be made by holding Zero button, and also press and hold Button 4 (DRAG -). When told in the display restart the machine (Power OFF, Power ON) and Choose language.  If the machine still does not work, continue below.

If the Wheel/Motor is working in one of the Automatically mode (using Auto button) or Manual (using UP button) ? the problem might be any of the two electronic boards or the motor. So jump to 3 below.

When motor or wheel has some or several of the symptom below when running the motor with the UP button, the problem looks like that the Clutch Rotor is moved from it's centered position.

  • Wheel/Motor does not rotate at all.
  • Wheel/Motor and shown WEIGHT in display runs/shows irregular/alternating and noise from motor when pressing UP button.
  • Wheel/Motor is weak when running on full DRAG. This is a problem that can be solved by the solution below.

Before reading/following steps below there is also a video showing how to Centering the Clutch on Youtube.

  • Remove hooks and sinker from the wheel and set the DRAG to 30%. This is more then enough to get the wheel going.

  • 1. Remove the wheel. Does the motor shaft rotate now? If no jump to 2 below.
    • If yes the wheel might be too far in on motor axle.
    • Wheel also must glide freely in and out on motor axle about 1mm. If it's too tight it will be stuck by the center screw and wheel can't go out.
    • The motor axle might be bent so the wheel scratches to the frame plate .
    • No... continue below.

  • 2. Remove the clutch rotor. Does the motor rotate now? If no... jump to 3 below.
    • It looks like that the clutch spool is moved from it's centered position and does not line up with the motor axle and spool rotor. This can happen especially during transport. A sign of this is that the motor makes sound and the display shows on much Weight, but motor is not moving. This problem is easily fixed.

    • Loosen up the 4 screws that holds the clutch spool, just a bit and remove the clutch rotor. Dont drop the flat wedge that is on the motor axle! Look for scratches between the clutch parts (Spool and rotor).
    • Add one lap with tape around the rotor at the inner diameter (around Ø50mm).
    • Reattach the rotor and crosswise tighten the 4 screws.
    • Pull out the clutch rotor again. Now it should be able to be pulled out by hands.
    • Remove the tape.
    • Reattach the rotor again. Does it work now? If not pull out the rotor a few millimeters. Does it work now? If no step to 3 below.
    • The rotor seems to be too far pressed in on motor axle. Add a washer 1-2mm behind the rotor.

  • 3. If the motor still does not run without the wheel and clutch rotor (or if the problem only occurs in One of the Automatic or Manual modes) the problem seems to be any of the electronic boards or the MOTOR, and not the Wheel/Clutch.

  • 4. To test the Electronic's.
    • After reset to Factory default values pressing any button will generate a BEEP sound when pressing the UP button. Also when pressing AUTO button to set the machine in Automatic mode, the display should show a rotating symbol. This symbol should disappear when pressing UP button. If it does't the KEX card needs to be replaced.
