E445 Motor LOCK. To prevent line/wheel slips out when not used.

2022-05-31: When the motor in BJ5000ex is stopped and if sinker and line remains in the water, the line might slowly slip out. A solution to prevent tforcehis to happend is to activate the PAUSE MODE that allows the motor to automatically haul up again., or just stop the wheel. This is made by enter the MENU E445.

PAUSE MODE have been changed during years of development. The oldest firmware with PAUSE MODE have the options 1,2 and 3 below where 2 and 3 is waiting for line to slip out, and then start the motor to haul up. Later versions also got a more passive option number 4, which is locking the motor with a constant torque. The motor will never start haul up. This passive mode fast became the popular solusion so from firmware 1.2152 and newer the option 2 an 3 is removed.

E445 LOCK

  1. "Off" (The PAUSE MODE is not used) Line easily slips out if sinker is left in the water.
  2. "Activated with UP button". PAUSE MODE is only activated when motor is stopped by pressing the UP button. If line slipps out the motor will start and haul up the line to the point where it was stopped last time. If motor is stopped with the STOP button, the machine will remain in the MANUAL MODE which does not start the motor.
  3. "Activated on power up" PAUSE MODE is always activated when motor is stopped in MANUAL MODE. Technically the PAUSE MODE replaces the MANUAL MODE with this setting.
  4. "Motor lock" This setting works different then the other two above. As the name reveals the motor is locked with a brake torque preventing the line to slip out. The motor will never start to run. This mode is not available in older firmware and is at the same time the only available option left in the firmware 1.2052-BL3.
The brake torque is increasing and decreasing with the DRAG that is used when motor runs. But the torque can be adjusted. Factory set is 20%. Higher value means more torque and 30% will get much more torque.

E445P Minimum power.

The powere applied on motor when stopped when using Lock mode, is the DRAG setting multiplicated with a factor E445PPP Power in percent (se the E445 Power below) But at both ends of DRAG setting close to 100% and 0% a deviation from a linear power can be used, This is very advanced settings and factory default values should be fine. Adjusting them however might get better performace. This is the deviation factor when DRAG is set low, near 0%

E445PP Maximum power.

This is the same as above but devation factor when DRAG is close to 100%

E445PPP Power.

This is the power that the motor will have in percent of the DRAG. 20-30% should work.

E445PPP P Time.

When motor is set to STOP mode by pressing stop button, it takes some time for the motor to slow down. Before the lock power is applied the motor it has to be still. This E445PPP P time should be at least as long as it takes for the motor to stop. If the time is shorter the motor might continue run. To long time onother hand will delay the stop function with line slip out as result.
