In this guide "products" are referred to all three products BJ5000EX, RC12, and RC4. Refering to "Machines" below means BJ5000EX and RC12 but not RC4. This guide is how to make products work in network.

Hardware

  • All products has to be connected to the same power suppply. 12 or 24 Volt DC Acid/Lead type.
  • All products has two wires (White and Brown) for RS-485 communication. All brown must be connected together, and to nothing else. All white cables must be connected together, and with nothing else.

Setup for the Master product.

  • The communication is made by letting ONE machine control the network traffic. This is made by setting [E651] (Press button Enter, then button 6, button 5 and button 1) Mode to "MASTER". This makes the machine start connecting other products. Only one machine in the network must be set to MASTER. If more then ONE machine is set to MASTER the network till not work. The master can be a EX machine or RC12, but not a RC4.
  • Next step is to choose the network group address for this MASTER machine. From the MODE picture (showed from above) press Prog button. Now choose a GROUP by pressing button 3(+) or 6(-). Choose A, B or C. For easiest setup choose A.
  • Next step is to choose the network number address for this MASTER machine. From the GROUP picture (showed from above) press Prog button. Now choose a NUMBER by pressing button 3(+) or 6(-). Choose 1-6. For easiest setup choose 1.
  • Now the MASTER machine is activated and got the network address A1.

Setup for all other machines, called slaves.

  • The procedure in chapter above shall now be repeated in almost exactly same way in all other machines. The difference is that the [E651] MODE must be set to SLAVE (not MASTER) for all machines or RC12's.
  • Pressing Prog button and choose the network group. For easiest setup choose the same as for the master A.
  • Press Prog button again to choose the network number address. Now all machines must get a unique number in the GROUP A. The master is set to 1, so the first slave must be a number between 2 to 6. For easiest setup choose 2. Next machine to 3 and so on. When adding machine or RC12's 7 to 12 they must be assigned to GROUP B and no 13-18 into GROUP C. Machines within same GROUP can cooperate when fishing and shows in same GROUP picture.
  • Now all SLAVES are activated and got their network addresses.

Last step is to let the master know which products to talk to.

  • From the LINE OUT (Main picture) Press and hold the Enter button. After a second the GROUP picture is showed. This picture is used later to select machines to control during normal operation. But now continue to hold the Enter button pressed until the GROUP picture also shows the text "SET". Release the button. If the button was released to early just press Enter again to LINE OUT and then, press it again and this time hold the button pressed for longer time. Note that only MASTER machine's will show the GROUT SET picture. And machines with [E651] Network MODE=OFF will not show any GROUP picture at all.
  • The GROUP SET picture now shows machines in the GROUP A. Machine A1 in upper left is the master machine. machine 2 and 3 to the right. Machine 4,5 and 6 in the bottom row. Machines set to ON will be contacted by master. If machines are set to OFF the master will ignore it. To change press button 1-6 under the display that corrensponds to the machine in the display. The option ONRK is only choosen when the machine got a RC4. To fast response in the network, only set machines that shall be used to ON, and all the rest to OFF.
  • If machines has been choosen to be placed in GROUP B or C press Prog button to step to GROUP B and then C. Repeat to set ON or OFF procedure for each GROUP.
  • Now all machines are activated with network addresses and the master knows which machines to communicate with.

Controlling machines.

  • From any machine, SLAVES or MASTER. From LINE OUT hold the Enter button until the first GROUP picture shows (without SET). The display will show LINE OUT and some status for the wheel, motor, brake and CATCH DETECTION for all machines in the GROUP. Press Prog button to change GROUP.
  • To control machines in a GROUP. Press button 1 to 6 to toggle machines text and background color to normal or inverted. Selected machines got inverted text.
  • Now when pressing the buttons ZERO, AUTO, UP or STOP it will be sent to all selected machines. It's easy to change selected machines and send other button commands.
  • Showing the GROUP picture on the local machine prevents it to receive commands from external machines. This is a way to prevent the motor to start when working with hooks and lines.
